At Family Dental Care of Greensburg, the dental practice of Dr. David Dickey and Dr. Seth Conley, we are pleased to offer dental implant restoration for our patients looking for a natural looking smile after losing a tooth–or several. You can lose your precious pearly whites for a variety of reasons, tooth decay and gum disease being only two of them. Our dental implants will allow you to eat, smile, talk and laugh with confidence again, as you will have a natural looking smile.

When a tooth is missing, both the crown–which is the visible part of the tooth–and the root are gone. This is where dental implants come into the picture, your new implant is placed into the jawbone to fuse with the natural bone, allowing new teeth to be attached. You can get a dental implant for one tooth, or for multiple missing teeth, with a bridge or full or partial denture.

So, how do we replace a missing tooth with a dental implant?

— First, a cylindrical and or tapered post made of titanium typically, is surgically placed into the jawbone to replace the root of your tooth.

— Once the implant has fused your natural jawbone, a connector (called an abutment) is built into the top dental implant. This will connect it to the replacement tooth.

— Finally, a crown (a replacement tooth) is made to match your natural teeth, or even a bridge or dentures supported by the implants.

— To care for your implants, brush and floss regularly, and keep your regular scheduled check-ups and cleanings.

So if you are missing teeth, Dr. Dickey and Dr. Conley can restore your pearly whites so that you can smile again with confidence.
